My grade school history is a little fuzzy but I think anthropologists trace the origin of Thanksgiving back to the 17th century when a bunch of Euro religious nuts came over here and brought an angry white god, slavery, and syphilis to the Native Americans. I am not sure how a day set aside for overindulgence and family quarreling is an appropriate way to mark the occasion but hey, who am I to buck tradition?
